SELLING SIMON

Well reader friends, I DID IT! I got a real, true, honest-to-goodness publishing contract from Boroughs Publishing Group for my book Selling Simon.

You know, I thought that the process would be somewhat different, but what I’d implemented for myself as an indie author still rang true.

  • You have a manuscript

  • You get an editor to talk about the flow, pacing, and wording (albeit with oversight)

  • You get a line editor (albeit with oversight)

  • You work with a cover designer (albeit with oversight)

There are some things I didn’t get a chance to do this time around though, and for that, I’m sorry everyone! For example:

  • ARC Reads

  • Preorders

I’m hopeful that, now that the book is out, you’ll forgive me. And, if you read (and like), please consider offering your honest review on Goodreads.

Now, what do I like most about this book? As you may know, it started off as Reylo fanfiction, so I love me some dark-haired, broody men with resting bitch face. That’s why I think I love the MMC, Simon, so much. I’m a sucker for an engaging male character.

I think the FMC, Sadie/Angelica, is the strongest female I’ve written to date. Of course, she has her plights, but she stands up, never backing down, even when it gets her in trouble.

And, of course, for those who follow my fanfiction, I’m so excited to include my OC Ciel, who has retained his sass, soft heart, and sorrowful backstory. I love that character with my whole heart, and including him was a true joy.

I’d like to thank the "321...Write!" authors group on Discord. Together, we bat around story ideas, beta read for each other, and hold each other accountable for our goals. Everyone in that space is welcoming, talented, and enthusiastic, and I love how we help each other keep our eyes on the prize. Though everyone is precious to me, I'd like to specifically call out a few who are essential in helping me walk the author's journey. Mari, the one person I say "I love you" to more than my husband and son combined; Maude, whose expertise and diligence makes her a bedrock of inspiration; Ashley, whose stories keep me on my toes; and Liana and Tristen, for launching and nurturing this space, giving us authors a place to call home.

Also, my fellow Newbie Boroughs Authors, Lauren Kutney and Isis Chandler. Not only were they available for night time calls to check in and see where our launches were at, but they've also encouraged and supported me through our mutual journey. Your books are stellar ladies. I can't wait to see them hit the New York Best Seller list.

Dear readers, if you try the book, I hope you love it as much as I do.

XO

Nix
