So, what excites me about this book is several things, but first and foremost are the characters. Caleb does things that may seem good on the outside, but are twisted and dark once you see deeper into the vortex of his heart. Still, you can understand exactly who he is and why, and it makes me love him despite his VERY OBVIOUS FLAWS.
Ari, meanwhile, has the best of intentions. She really does. She’s falling into a trap and she doesn’t even know it. Everything is stacked against her - her designation, her inexperience, and her good heart. She tries so hard despite everything, and I love her for that as well.
What else excites me? Well…so much, but I can’t spoil it here. You’ll have to read the book!
Why Omegaverse?
It’s sexy. Point blank. To me, there is a freedom in sexuality when it comes to Omegaverse. Instead of being considered <insert sexual derrogatory term> for being insatiable during sex, it becomes something desirable. Sought after. And there is a mutual vulnerability to seeing out your ruts and heats together. To me, it’s a very primal sort of romance…plus, with knotting, there is forced cuddle time, so…
If you’ve never read Omegaverse before, DON’T BE FRIGHTENED! I’ve made a primer in the beginning of the book going over the broad brush strokes. You’ll be fine. And, if I’ve done my job, this will only be the first of many you read.
Why Dark Romance?
After finishing a novel, I got depressed. I’d spent all this time immersing myself in the book’s world but, for all intents and purposes, the characters moved on without me. “The End” is only for the written word. The story goes far beyond the last page in the mind of the author and the readers. Still, I was mopey and dopey and so a friend said, “Why don’t I give you a writing prompt?” She gave me three and, out of them all, her dark Omegaverse romance is the one that spoke to me. I’d never written anything like it before…and so that meant I now had to. (I like a good challenge.)
Two months later, I had this book. Now, I hope you have this book, too. And like it. And love it. And share it. And not pirate it. DON’T PIRATE IT! (Arrr!)
